The Goddess Moon Circles Cell Phone 911 Project:  Cell Phones For Those In Need

Many people in the United States have cell phones they aren't using. 

In the course of updating our cell phones, changing service providers and whatnot, we can accumulate quite a collection of otherwise useless phones.  Maybe you even gave them to your child so s/he could play telephone.

Here's something you may not know: 

Federal Law requires that cell phones be able to contact 911, even if the phone doesn't have regular service. 

This ability makes them one of the best tools for people in crisis situations. 

When people contact us in regard to crisis intervention, we will give them one of these cell phones for use in an emergency.  In the event that a person was in danger from an abusive parent, spouse, boyfriend or some other threat, your unused cell phone would be a welcome and fortuitous tool in getting help as quickly as possible, maybe even saving a life.
