The Goddess Moon Circles Helping & Warming Program

What is the Helping & Warming Program?

Founded in July 1999, Goddess Moon Circles has, first and foremost, been a service-oriented Church. Since the Fall of 2000, we have been sponsoring a program that calls for handmade hats, mittens and scarves for the winter months and blankets, canned goods, staple (non-perishable) foods and plush toys year round. These items are distributed at no cost to those people who need them. We do not require a statement of faith, or church attendance in order to receive aid from Goddess Moon Circles.

These items are taken by our clergy, students and volunteer leaders to shelters across the United States.  Blankets and toys are also taken to crisis situations in which our clergy are called to assist.

Imagine a can of food you have contributed helping to fill a hungry person's stomach; a blanket that you have made with your hands and intent warming a homeless person.

How about a handmade toy of your own creation comforting a child tangled in the disarray of an emergency crisis?

Your generous donations make these situations possible!  Whether it's a donation of your time, a tangible item, or funding, your kindness helps us help others.

Just because the Faith-based Initiative doesn't appear to apply to Pagan organizations, it doesn't mean you can't help those in need.  Goddess Moon Circles' Helping & Warming Program is here for those needing help in these difficult times.

If you decide that you don't wish to support this particular Pagan charity, please consider supporting one of the other Pagan charities out there.

Imagine what it would be like to be turned down for assistance based upon your  religion, race, sexual orientation or whatever other spurious reason.  Think about the anger and frustration such a situation might cause.  Think about how angry this might make another person.  It's important that people aren't left hungry or without shelter of some sort.  That's where we come in, and with your added help and participation, we can help even more people in need!  Join our mailing list for more information on how you can help!

Sponsor A Box!

We need your help in shipping boxes of donations where they are needed most.  If you would like to sponsor a box in your own area, please contact the Program Coordinator nearest you for more information on how you can help.  (If you are uncomfortable  providing actual funds to a Chapter to sponsor a box, you may always make the shipping arrangements with the carrier of your choice for the particular box.)

Thank you for all your generous support.  Only through your kindness are we able to keep the Helping & Warming Program alive.

How may I get involved?

You can contact one of the area coordinators listed here, or, if there isn't a coordinator in your immediate area, please contact the one nearest you.  You do not have to be Pagan to participate, just open minded and accepting of others beliefs.

You can use the brochure we've developed.  Just modify it as necessary for your contact information.  However, please leave the National Organization information so people can contact us to verify the Helping and Warming Program with our main office.  You can download it here.  Be sure to go through it and enter your own information in the several spaces bracketed with <>.

We are in need of at least one Chapter in each of the 50 States (and several in each State are just as welcome), and encourage international Chapters.  If you're interested in setting up your own local Chapter of the Goddess Moon Circles Helping & Warming program, please email us.  At this time, we have only 14 Chapters covering the entire United States and 2 International Chapters.  This just isn't enough.

FreeCycle

FreeCycle is an organization dedicated to the free rehoming of various household articles that are no longer needed around a particular home.  Look for a FreeCycle chapter in your area!  This is a wonderful resource for Helping & Warming Chapters!

GMC Helping & Warming Program Area Coordinators:

If you attempt to contact a listed program Coordinator and either receive no response or get a "no longer valid" response from their ISP, please let us know immediately.  We

welcome multiple Coordinators in each state, so if you'd like to add yourself to these listings, please let us know.
